Data Science Scholarship
Enable AI would like to support students who want to further their education in the field of data science with the data science scholarship.

We offer a free data science course exclusively for students.
The next dates for the courses can be found further down the page.

The Enable AI scholarship is aimed at students of all disciplines who want to better understand and apply data science methods.
Doctoral students are excluded from the scholarship.

Computer science courses are among the most popular courses. No wonder, after all, the job prospects with a computer science degree are extremely good. Computer scientists are highly regarded specialists and occupy numerous well-paid top positions in the economy. A job and a high starting salary are practically guaranteed with an IT degree – even if you don’t want to work as a programmer at all.

Scholarship for Data ScienceBecause your possible uses are very diverse. Graduates with a degree in computer science are in demand wherever data is stored, processed and transmitted – nowadays in principle in all sectors and companies. And an end to mechanization is not yet in sight, so your IT degree will qualify you for a future-oriented and growing branch of the economy.

If you want to study computer science, then you will deal with both the hardware and the software, developing and maintaining them. Mathematics also occupies a large place in the curriculum of computer science courses.

Programming experience is required, but does not have to be in Python.
Please also note the requirements, which are mentioned in the “Organizational” tab, so that the course suits you.
The selection is made on the basis of the letter of motivation, previous career and voluntary work.
Application Details

Applications can be sent continuously to [email protected]. You can specify preferences for an appointment in the subject of the application email.
Your application documents contain a curriculum vitae, information on previous academic achievements and a letter of motivation (max. 1/2 page) that explains why you would like to continue your education in the field of data science or which specific projects you would like to implement.
next dates
The data science scholarship takes place as a live online course (with zoom, or similar). Participation in the course is free of charge. You only need a computer with internet access.

The next 2-day course will take place on the following date (subject to change):

We are currently revising the offer regarding the scholarship and will publish the date as soon as it is fixed.

Learning Data Science with IOMIDS and CorrelAid e.V.
IOMIDS and CorrelAid are jointly offering a bursary for IOMIDS courses to promote education in data science and artificial intelligence for volunteer purposes. If the scholarship holders receive funding, the fees for one of the courses will be paid in full by IOMIDS.

Connected Data Fellowship 2022 grantee gets the chance to actively participate and train in the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ)
Munich, May 19, 2022 – Neo4j®, the world’s leading provider of graph technology, is sponsoring a grant for data journalism and data science in cooperation with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). The Connected Data Fellowship 2022 offers an independent journalist, programmer or data scientist the opportunity to participate in the ICIJ’s global network and conduct investigative data research for eight months.

The grantee will work full-time and as part of a multidisciplinary team of developers and data reporters at locations in Washington DC, Paris or Madrid. The goal: analyze complex data, uncover relationships in networks, create transparency and transform data into effective storytelling. Fresh graduates from journalism or computer engineering programs as well as experienced data journalists or programmers are invited to apply. First experience in dealing with graph databases is an advantage. Those interested in the Connected Data Fellowship 2022 can now find out more about the application process from the ICIJ.

The Connected Data Fellowship was first established in 2017 following the ICIJ’s 2016 disclosure of the Panama Papers. The Neo4j graph database was used to analyze the 2.6 terabytes of data. The data leak revealed a deep insight into the criminal structures of the Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca and exposed offshore tax havens of numerous personalities worldwide – from politicians and officials to billionaires and celebrities. Since then, investigative authorities in 22 countries have been able to recover more than $1.36 billion in taxpayers’ money. Investigations are still ongoing in more than 82 countries. The ICIJ received the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Educational Reporting for its work on the Panama Papers.

The ICIJ is increasingly relying on graph technology and the graph database from Neo4j for investigative research. Thanks to the technical support, the journalists were able to analyze four of the five largest and most consequential data leaks and make them accessible to the public. The joint projects include the Swiss Leaks 2015, Panama Papers 2016, Paradise Papers 2017, FinCEN Files 2020 and most recently the Pandora Papers 2021.

The collaboration shows how journalists can use new technologies to make even large data sets understandable and tangible. Information design and data journalism in particular have established a new form of storytelling here in recent years. Survey results, reports, statistics and scientific data are prepared in a communicable way and converted into interactive graphics. In the COVID19 pandemic, such dashboards and maps even made the front pages. Journalists are therefore encouraged to expand their skills in data science in order to continue to reach people with editorial content in the digital age.

The ICIJ is one of the leading and most influential institutions in this area. The global network of investigative journalists provides members with the technical basis for data analysis. With the help of open source technologies, data can be extracted from confusing sources via machine learning (ML) and connections can be uncovered thanks to graph technology. The knowledge gained in this way serves the journalists as a starting point for further research on site, validating information and finally presenting it to a broad public in the form of articles.

“The ICIJ has created the largest repository of documents that any news organization has ever seen. We have more than 60 million files in different formats, often linked together across multiple datasets,” explains Pierre Romera, Chief Technology Officer at ICIJ. “Not only do we analyze new data leaks, we also continuously dig into the data we already have. New tools related to graph technology and Graph Data Science (GDS) help us to work with the data even faster and more effectively. We are therefore very happy about the scholarship donated by Neo4j and are looking forward to the applicants.”

“Investigative journalism is all about finding indirect connections. With the Panama Papers, the ICIJ team showed that they are able to detect exactly such connections on a large scale,” says Emil Eifrem, CEO at Neo4j. “Even terabytes of complex, confusing and heterogeneous data can be clearly displayed and queried in a graph. Patterns and relationships quickly become apparent. This experience was groundbreaking for us. For the first time, we witnessed how graph technology developed immense social and political clout in the hands of investigative journalists. This inspired Neo4j to create the Connected Data Fellowship to support the future of investigative journalism.”
You can read more about Neo4j’s ICIJ Scholarship 2022 in the ICIJ blog post. If you are interested, we would be happy to create a complete technical article on the subject or coordinate an interview for you. Contact Person:
